A midfielder/striker that has represented his home province of British Columbia at youth level, Declan Rodriguez joined Whitecaps FC Residency on Sept. 7, 2010, after playing for Richmond United Metro.

2011: Rodriguez made 11 appearances during his first PDL season with Whitecaps FC Residency, as they finished third in the Northwest Division of the PDL’s Western Conference. The midfielder/striker made his PDL debut in the season opener, as the Residency team suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Kitsap Pumas on May 1.

2010-11: In his first year with the Residency program, Rodriguez made four appearances during the team’s six-match tour of Mexico in Nov. 2010. This included scoring the final goal in a 6-1 victory over the U-19/U-20 side of Atotonilco FC on Nov. 12 and registering two goals and one assist during a 4-2 victory over the U-18 side of Atlas de Guadalajara on Nov. 14. The midfielder/striker then started all three Bracket C matches in the U-19 Super Group of Dallas Cup XXXII. This included the 3-2 win over Brazil’s Sport Club Corinthians Paulista (Apr. 17, 2011), the 2-0 defeat to Mexico's Tigres de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (Tigres UANL) (Apr. 18, 2011), and the 2-0 defeat to Real Salt Lake U-17/U-18 Academy (Apr. 20, 2011). Rodriguez then appeared as a substitute in the 2-1 friendly win over Costa Rica's Liga Deportiva Alajuelense at Dallas Cup XXXII on Apr. 21, 2011.
From 1998 to 2010, Rodriguez was a member of Richmond United Metro in his hometown of Richmond, BC. The midfielder/striker won five straight Metro league titles with the club from the U-12 to U-16 levels. From 2001 to 2005, Rodriguez also trained with Total Soccer Systems (TSS) Academy, while he represented Canada at the U-12 level during the 2005 Danone Nations Cup in Lyon, France. In 2006, he was a member of the British Columbia U-14 provincial team. In 2007 and 2009, Rodriguez was a member of Whitecaps FC and BC Soccer 'Professional Development Partner' club Coastal WFC. With Coastal WFC U-16 Boys, the midfielder/striker won a United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League North American championship title in 2009.
Born and raised in Richmond, BC, the midfielder/striker’s parents are Ingrid Defert and Ron Rodriguez, while he has a sister named Tegan. As a student in Richmond, BC, Rodriguez attended Mitchell Elementary School before enrolling at H.J. Cambie Secondary School.
When not concentrating on his soccer career, Rodriguez enjoys snowboarding.
