A midfielder/striker that has represented Canada at youth level, Sebastian Cabrera joined Whitecaps FC Residency in Sept. 2011 following a successful youth career with Edmonton Juventus Soccer Club in Alberta.
MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER RESERVE LEAGUE
2012: As a 17-year-old, Cabrera made his MLS Reserve League debut as a second-half substitute in Whitecaps FC reserves’ 2-1 home defeat to San Jose Earthquakes reserves on Sept. 10.
U-18: In Nov. 2011, Cabrera took part in a 10-day training camp in San Jose, Costa Rica, with Canada’s U-18 development squad. In Nov. 2012, he was called up to a week-long training camp with the Canadian U-18 team in the United States. U-15: As a member of Canada's U-15 national team, Cabrera took part in a 10-day camp at The Home Depot Center complex in Carson, California in Oct. 2010. The camp included friendly matches versus the United States U-15 squad.
The midfielder/striker shaped his soccer career with hometown Edmonton Juventus Soccer Club from 2004 to 2011. As a member of Edmonton Juventus ’95, Cabrera played in six consecutive Alberta provincial youth championship tournaments, with his side winning Alberta provincial titles in 2009 (U-14) and 2010 (U-16). He also won the 2009 Canadian U-14 Club Championship title with Edmonton Juventus ’95. The midfielder/striker also represented his home province of Alberta from U-13 to U-16 levels, while he also developed as a player at the University of Alberta’s Green and Gold Soccer Academy and the Canadian Soccer Association's National Training Centre (Prairies region) program.
Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, the midfielder/striker’s parents are Maria and Jaime Cabrera, while he has a sister named Samantha. As a student in Edmonton, Alberta, Cabrera attended Holy Family Catholic School before enrolling at Meyonohk School for 2005-06 school year. From 2006 to 2011, Cabrera attended Edmonton’s Vimy Ridge Academy.
Cabrera is a fan of Spanish and European giants FC Barcelona, while his favourite player is Barcelona and Chile striker Alexis Sanchez. One day, the midfielder/striker hopes to play in Barcelona’s famous Camp Nou home. Off the soccer pitch, Cabrera enjoys music and football, while his favourite food is steak.
