Hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, Markarian joined Vancouver Whitecaps FC on January 2014, after representing his province and country on the Ontario Provincial team and the Canadian Men’s National Team.
2013: Markarian was selected for the U-16 Canadian Men’s National Team.
2013: The 6-foot-2 midfielder represented his home province in 2013 as part of the Ontario Provincial Team for the U-16. His team took home the gold in the national all-star championships in July. With Ottawa South United (OSU), Markarian earned the championship title in the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL). His OSU team was also the Ontario Cup finalists in 2011 and 2013. 2012: The midfielder’s OYSL team took home the gold in the Disney Pre- Academy Championships 2011: Markarian capped off a successful 2011 capturing titles such as the Ontario Indoor Cup Championship, Dana Cup (Denmark) Champion with Dallas Texans (as a guest player) and Gothia Cup Semifinalist with Dallas Texans.
Before Markarian joined the OYSL, he played U-9 to U-12 in the Eastern Ontario Regional League (ERSL) from 2006 to 2010.
Through Markarian’s youth career, the midfielder has earned championships in tournaments which include: the Montreal Impact tournament; Queens University Showcase; OSU Showcase, Robbie tournament; Lac St, Louis, Granby tournament, Brossard tournament, Philadelphia Classic; Syracuse Classic; Jefferson Cup; and few others in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.
The midfielder is attending Saint Francis Xavier School in Vancouver where he is finishing grade 11. Markarian’s father, Raffi Markarian has been a positive influence in his life pushing him to be a better soccer player while reminding him not to forget to have fun and enjoy the game.
Markarian’s favorite team is Manchester United FC in the English Premier League. His favorite player is the Spanish midfielder Andrés Iniesta. Markarian one day dreams of playing in Old Trafford the home of Manchester United. The midfielder’s favorite food is steak.
