Whitecaps affiliates ready rosters

April 11, 2008

Mountain WFC and Coastal WFC are ready to renew their rivalry in the 2008 USL Super Y-League season.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC and British Columbia Soccer Association (BCSA) affiliates Coastal WFC, Mountain WFC, and Surrey WFC will announce their rosters on Tuesday, April 15, in preparation for preseason training and the upcoming 2008 USL Super Y-League season.

"It’s been a very successful evaluation process to date, with the numbers of interested players significantly up over our inaugural year in 2007," said Whitecaps director of youth Dan Lenarduzzi. "As we head into the final roster selection this weekend, we want to thank all the participating players in the evaluation process. There is also a great cooperation amongst affiliates' staff to ensure that rosters are set with the best interests of players in mind."

Whitecaps FC and BCSA staff held a meeting Thursday evening with all WFC affiliate staff to stress the final rosters setting procedures that will take place over this weekend. All WFC affiliates will confirm their roster selection to the Whitecaps and BCSA by Monday, April 14, with an official announcement to come from the Whitecaps by noon on Tuesday, April 15.

With the 2008 season set to kick off in mid-May, Mountain WFC, Coastal WFC, and Surrey WFC preseason training is set to begin after the April 15 announcement.

Joining Coastal, Mountain and Surrey in Super Y-League Pacific Northwest Division play next summer will be Abbotsford, Okanagan, and Victoria, along with American opposition from Seattle, Spokane, Yakima and Evergreen. All teams will compete for the opportunity to represent the Pacific Northwest Division at the Super Y-League North American Finals in Florida next November.
