![]() Caps Residency ease past Poco CityDecember 12, 2007Two weeks on from their 1-0 win over Trinity Western University Spartans in Langley, Thomas Niendorf’s side came from a goal down to comfortably defeat their Fraser Valley Soccer League Premier Division opponents in Port Coquitlam. Despite dominating possession for the majority of Tuesday’s game, it was Poco City that took the lead from a corner on 35 minutes. The goal sparked Whitecaps Residency into life, and it only took the youngsters five minutes to draw level through striker Dever Orgill. The colourful Jamaican youngster eluded a number of Poco City markers on the edge of the box before cracking home a fine finish for 1-1. The Residency squad then took a one-goal lead into halftime, as striker Marcus Johnstone ended his goal drought with a strike on 45 minutes. That lead was extended two minutes after the break through midfielder Devin Gunenc before Johnstone capped a fine evening’s performance with two more goals. The Edmonton, Alberta native made it 4-1 on the hour mark before completing his hat-trick 10 minutes later. Niendorf’s squad will play one more game before taking a break for the Holiday season, as they travel to Vancouver Island to face a men’s select side from Victoria next Tuesday.
