Vancouver Whitecaps FC new affiliate Surrey WFC launched operations with a press conference/open house Thursday December 27th at Newton Athletic Park.

Among those in attendance were special guests Greg Mitchell - Surrey Metro Soccer Association; Tom Gill - Surrey Councilor; Harry Bains - MLA Surrey Newton and Dan Lenarduzzi of the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Surrey WFC is a collaboration of Surrey Clubs that have come together to play in the 2008 Super Y League season set to begin in May 2008.

Surrey WFC joins Coastal WFC and Mountain WFC as affiliates of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and governed by the British Columbia Soccer Association.

"Today's launch was an historical, co-operative event," says Surrey WFC GM Chris Murphy. "The partnership of soccer clubs in Surrey on such an exciting project has catalyzed and unprecedented level of cooperation and communication."
