Northern Academy Center

Overview

Vancouver Whitecaps FC has announced the launch of a new Whitecaps FC Northern Academy Centre to be based out of Prince George and in partnership with Prince George Youth Soccer Association (PGYSA). See full press release here.

Whitecaps FC Academy Centres are a network of regional Whitecaps FC training hubs linked through key staff, curriculum, and standards that provide professional supplemental club training for serious, motivated players.

The Whitecaps FC Academy Centre network now totals six locations, including the new Northern Academy, Vancouver Island, Vancouver, the Okanagan, and the Kootenays along with the recently announced Whitecaps FC Saskatchewan Academy Centre – the first such centre outside of British Columbia.

The Northern Academy centre will be led by Sonny Pawar, currently the interim technical head coach of PGYSA. Pawar will deliver Whitecaps FC’s development philosophy and curriculum supported by Whitecaps FC staff in Vancouver who will make regular visits to the Northern Academy.

Whitecaps FC Northern Academy programs will launch this spring with an abbreviated schedule of programs. These include a Whitecaps FC Skills Academy, an invite-only Prospects Academy and a limited camp schedule.

Northern Skills Academy

Take your game to the next level

  • Supplemental club training for motivated boys and girls U-10 to U12
  • Open to all motivated players
  • Begins May, 2013

Northern Prospects Academy

Get Selected

  • Boys and girls in U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 training groups
  • Yearly phased program
  • Includes visits to Vancouver for Whitecaps FC Showcase and MLS training game weekend
  • Advanced players. 16 to 20 players selected per training group
  • Players must go through an evaluation process and be selected
  • Begins May, 2013

CAMP PROGRAMS

In addition to the Academy programs, a select number of Whitecaps FC Skills and Prospects camps will be available in the summer in a variety of locations.
