Kootenay Academy

• Monthly Coaching visits from Whitecaps FC staff led by Whitecaps Okanagan Regional Head Coach David Broadhurst.
• Top local fulltime Soccer Quest staff working with the approved Whitecaps FC Academy curriculum.
• Connection to the Whitecaps FC Academy Centre network
• Provides preparation for regional opportunities at different levels and Whitecaps programs such as Girls Elite and Boys Residency
• Provides opportunities to be part of a larger scouting network and greater exposure to college/university and professional opportunities

Participants follow a Whitecaps FC curriculum that includes field technical development, complemented by strength and conditioning, sport nutrition and psychology and supported by assessments and evaluation.

Field Technical Development

• In addition to skill development there will be a focus on speed of play, team play including positional play, and movement off the ball.

Speed, strength, and power training sessions

• The goal will be to improve speed, agility and reaction times of the athlete, enhance flexibility, increase core strength and maximize the power potential.

Sport Nutrition

• Eating right for performance, pre-game, post-game, hydration and more.

Sport Psychology

• Sport psychology is sometimes called mental preparation or training, mind games, or mind over matter.
• The aim is to play at peak performance in every match.

Assessment and Evaluation

• Assessments will be done to measure progress.
• Formal reports will be shared.

Whitecaps FC Kootenay Academy operates out of the Indoor Soccer Centre in Nelson. Located at Civic Centre, 308 Cedar St. Phone #1: 250.352.4625 (GOAL)

This Academy Centre will connect the Kootenays to Vancouver through key staff, curriculum and standards as well as an upcoming network of Whitecaps Academy Centres across Canada.
