The U.S. Soccer Development Academy (DA) is the top youth academy league in the United States and Canada. In addition to academy teams from 22 MLS clubs, the league also includes top private run academy teams, enlisting the best prospects from both countries.
Whitecaps FC have been among the most successful clubs in the entirety of the 74-team Development Academy since joining the league in 2011. The Blue & White have made it to the Academy Championship final four on four different occasions, including twice being finalists at the U-19 level, once as a semifinalist, and once more as a semifinalist at the U-17 level.
The 'Caps play in the Northwest Division, which features MLS rivals Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders FC, and San Jose Earthquakes, as well as USL club Sacramento Republic FC. Additional teams include Crossfire Premier across the border in Washington, and California sides De Anza Force, Santa Cruz Breakers, and Silicon Valley Soccer Academy.
Combined among the U-19, U-17, and U-15 age groups, the 'Caps won the Northwest Division 10 times in the their first seven years in the league.
