BC Academy Centre - High Potential Prospect (HPP) Program

Overview

The Whitecaps have over 20 Academy Centres as part of its development network across Canada. These are part of two streams;

  • Provincial Centres:
    • Based outside the province and in many cases in partnership with provincial soccer associations. Players identified here have a pathway to the Whitecaps Boys Residency and Girls Elite REX programs in Vancouver as well as the Whitecaps Collegiate transition program.
  • BC Centres:
    • Based in BC and again in many cases are in partnership with local organizations. These centres are part of the local pathway and provide players with an opportunity to support selection to the BCSPL (BC Soccer Premier League), the Whitecaps high performance partner league with BC Soccer.

BC Academy Centre Purpose:

The purpose of the BC Centres is to provide supplemental club training for motivated boys and girls in a professional club environment. It also provides players the opportunity to be part of the Whitecaps academy centre network, wear the badge and train the Whitecaps Way as players follow an official Whitecaps FC training curriculum led by Whitecaps head coaching staff.

The program also includes visits included from Whitecaps FC Vancouver based coaching staff and provides greater exposure and additional opportunities for players both locally and in Vancouver. Only a limited number of players will be invited to participate.

BC Academy Centre HPP Program

Recognizing the need to connect players across the academy network beyond training, the Whitecaps have launched an HPP (High Potential Prospect Program) to provide some exciting network opportunities, incentives and added value for players while training in their respective academy locations including:

  • Selection as a Whitecaps FC HPP
  • Specialized training opportunities in Vancouver.
  • Training and competing with Whitecaps FC Academy centre teams at selected tournaments.
  • Scouting opportunities and placement with partnered BCSPL clubs.
  • Opportunities to watch a Whitecaps FC MLS match at BC Place.

How does the HPP program work:

BC Academy Centre Club Model

The academy centres are part of the Whitecaps FC pathway and are integrated into the BC Soccer pathway.
