In November of 2017, Fresno FC became the official USL affiliate of Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Playing in the USL is a key part of the Whitecaps FC player development pathway as a stepping stone to the first team in MLS.

With the affiliation between the two clubs, Whitecaps FC have the ability to assign players to play with Fresno FC in USL, while all players on the roster are monitored and evaluated for MLS opportunities. Fresno FC players are also eligible for call-ups on a USL Short Term Agreement.

Fresno FC will begin its first USL season in 2018, playing at Chukchanski Park. Head coach Adam Smith will lead the team after previously working as an assistant coach at Sacramento Republic FC and Portland Timbers.

The club is overseen by general manager Frank Yallop, a two-time MLS Coach of the Year and former head coach of Canada’s men’s national team.
