Motion Graphics Designer

The Whitecaps FC mission is To Unite and Inspire Our Communities. We are looking for a new team member to join Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the position of Motion Graphics Designer.

The Motion Graphics Designer is responsible for overseeing the design and production of motion graphics, animation, and video edits for numerous platforms, including digital signage, video board, and in-stadium LED’s.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Plan and produce brand projects that will seek to maximize fan engagement by designing motion and video elements that will deepen the connection between our club and its fans
  • Evolve the Caps’ design strategy and animation techniques to position the club as an expert in the space
  • Brainstorm new and innovative visual concepts with other designers, events, and content staff as it relates to stadium presentation
  • Collaborate with the marketing, social media content and corporate projects with the mission to create content that develops an unparalleled fan experience
  • Creation of concepts, animation and motion graphics, and any other production elements as necessary per the events team for distribution in match presentation
  • Produce project files and usage protocols for game presentation, social, digital, and creative teams
  • Collaborate with the marketing and content team to produce breakthrough and innovative content working closely and collaboratively with a variety of teams
  • Explore and develop upon latest trends and techniques specifically trends within the sports and entertainment sector
  • Collaborate with the content team to enhance and develop VFX/Motion Graphics that will further enhance the production quality of the club’s digital content

Qualifications/Experience:

In addition to bringing a commitment to Vancouver Whitecaps FC vision and values, the ideal candidate will require degrees of demonstrated experience as follows:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Animation, Art, Film Production, Digital Media, Marketing, or other industry relevant majors is preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in Motion Graphic Design production for a fast-paced sports or entertainment organization
  • Experienced in serving as a team lead on various projects in terms of motion design & video production
  • Strong familiarity with managing projects from conceptualization to completion – ideation, storyboarding, lighting, editing, design, colour correction and delivery
  • Ability to identify needs and goals of partners to ensure content is being produced in-line with contractual expectations
  • Proficiency and experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other related tools
  • A passion for soccer, sport, and a strong understanding of the North American soccer scene is an asset
  • Self-starter who works well in a team environment
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work unconventional hours including weekends and game nights
