A New Zealand international goalkeeper, Stefan Marinović joined Whitecaps FC in July 2017 after spending his entire eight-year professional career in the German 3. Liga and Regionalliga.
MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
2017: After joining Whitecaps FC in July, Marinović made five regular season starts and compiled a 2W-2L-1D record, while leading the team with a 1.00 goals-against average and 77.8 save percentage, and recording one clean sheet at Sporting Kansas City, the 'Caps first-ever victory at Children's Mercy Park. He went on to start all three of the 'Caps MLS Cup Playoff matches, registering consecutive clean sheets in the Knockout Round and the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinal. He finished his first MLS postseason with a 1W-1L-1D record and a 0.67 goals-against average.
2014-17: Marinović made 70 league starts and appearances for Unterhaching, competing in the 3. Liga in his first year with the club in 2014-15, before two seasons in the Regionalliga. He also made four starts and appearances in the DFB Pokal cup competition during that time. 2012-14: Marinović made one Regionalliga start each during his stints with FC Ismaning and TSV 1860 Munich II. 2009-12: Marinović began his professional career with SV Wehen Wiesbaden, making one start in two first-team appearances in his first season in 2009-10. He also made 26 starts and appearances for SV Wehen Wiesbaden II in the Regionalliga during his five years with the club.
Senior: Marinović has more than 15 senior appearances for New Zealand, starting all three matches at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and each of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as the Kiwis won the Oceania region. U-20: Marinović was a member of the OFC U-20 Championship winning team in 2011, and represented New Zealand at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.
