Holbrook Rejoins 'Caps From Fury

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that Matt Holbrook will be rejoining the Whitecaps as Development Manager after spending a year as General Manager of the Ottawa Fury of the United Soccer Leagues.Prior to his time in Ottawa, Holbrook was with the Whitecaps as a staff coach and Prospects Manager, helping to build the Whitecaps Youth professional development program and Super Y-League teams. In his new role with the Whitecaps, Holbrook will manage the Whitecaps Prospects program, support the Whitecaps Super Y-League affiliate teams, and help to build new Whitecaps regional development initiatives.“We’re very pleased to have Matt back with the Whitecaps,” said Whitecaps Youth Director Dan Lenarduzzi. “With the additional experience Matt gained as the Fury GM, he will play a big role in continuing to grow Whitecaps FC development and partnerships.”Though disappointed to see Holbrook leave Ottawa, Fury Owner and CEO John Pugh thanked his former General Manager for his services to the nation’s capital club.“In his short tenure with the Ottawa Fury, Matt managed the women’s W-League team, the men’s PDL team and the youth Super Y-League teams,” said Pugh. “Matt has been at the forefront of many new initiatives, including the very successful Fury School of Excellence program. Fortunately, we will be the beneficiaries of his club-building efforts for years to come. Obviously, we are very disappointed to see Matt depart, but wish him every success in the future and understand and respect his need to relocate back to the west coast.”
