The Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the British Columbia Soccer Association (BCSA) announced today that WFC Super Y-League affiliates Coastal WFC, Mountain WFC and Surrey WFC are in final preparation plans for the 2008 USL Super Y-League season.Whitecaps FC director of youth Dan Lenarduzzi and British Columbia Soccer Association executive director Bjorn Osieck recently kicked off official pre-season planning for the WFC affiliates with a meeting at the Whitecaps FC and BCSA offices.“The Super Y-League affiliate program is about giving top players additional opportunities to develop their skills, so that they can ultimately move up the path of player development,” said BCSA executive director Bjorn Osieck. “We believe that the kind of quality competition and platform that the Super Y-League has been providing gives an additional pool of players opportunities that they did not previously have. I think that is a key reason why we are so excited about being part of the Super Y-League and coming together with these new affiliate clubs.”“It’s great to get the WFC affiliates together early this season as part of our Super Y-League planning,” said Whitecaps director of youth Dan Lenarduzzi. “This is an opportunity for collaboration not only of the WFC affiliates’ staff, but also with each of the affiliates’ participating clubs and staff.”With the 2008 season set to kick off in mid-May, Mountain WFC, Coastal WFC, and Surrey WFC are in the process of finalizing coaching staff, evaluation dates and league details.  All affiliates are expected to announce their coaching staff by the end of February. Evaluations for all affiliates are likely to take place between March 25 and April 9, with evaluation registration set to begin on March 1.
