Whitecaps weekend in the Okanagan

The Whitecaps have partnered with Wendy’s Restaurants on a special Okanagan soccer weekend that includes a free Wendy’s community clinic in Kelowna for over 100 kids, two Prospects camps in Vernon and Kelowna, and two training sessions with the Okanagan Super Y-League teams.

Despite being in preseason preparations for their home opener April 12 vs. the Montreal Impact, the Whitecaps have made several Whitecaps men’s players available, including new signings Nick and Mason Webb, and Vicente Arze. Whitecaps women's players Monica Lam-Feist and Stephanie Panozzo will also be on hand, along with Whitecaps Residency youngster Drew Russell.

“Thanks to Wendy’s, this is great opportunity for the Whitecaps to extend their reach outside the Lower Mainland, and strengthen our partnership with the Okanagan, in partcular NOYSA (North Okanagan Youth Soccer Association) and COYSA (Central Okanagan Youth Soccer Association) ,” said Whitecaps director of youth Dan Lenarduzzi. “As part of our growing relationship and partnership with the British Columbia Soccer Association, we hope to work together to provide more of these opportunities with both community and professional programs.”

The Whitecaps will kick off the weekend on Friday evening, April 4, when they will join Okanagan Super Y-League staff and players for sessions at Beasley Fields in Kelowna. On Saturday, the Whitecaps will hold a Prospects camp at Marshall Field in Vernon in the morning and then head back to Kelowna for a Prospects session at Beasley Fields. On Sunday, the Whitecaps will hold a final session with the Super Y-League teams before finishing off the weekend with an afternoon Wendy’s free community clinic at Beasley Fields.
