Milbrett to lead 'Caps

By BOB MACKIN, 24 HOURS The Vancouver Whitecaps will announce this week that American soccer legend Tiffeny Milbrett will lead the W-League squad again in 2008. The 34-year-old striker from Portland joined Vancouver in 2006 after reaching the centennial mark in goals and bicentennial for appearances. She has gold medals from the 1996 Summer Olympics and 1999 Women's World Cup. "She's a wonderful person and a talented player," said Whitecaps' head coach Bob Birarda. "It's nice to have that around for the younger players." The roster is expected to be comprised mainly of players vying for spots on Canada's under-20 Women's World Cup team. Veterans attached to Canada's national team will be occupied with Olympic training.
