Surrey WFC split home opener

Surrey WFC opened with a win and two losses against American rivals Evergreen Soccer Club in their first-ever Super Y-League home opener Sunday in Surrey.

The Surrey WFC U-14 Boys opened the weekend series with a convincing 3-0 win, taking them to 2-0 on the season after winning their first game on the road against Spokane last weekend. Two goals from Oliver Garcia-Lemus and a single strike from Dalton San gave the home side the three-goal victory.

The U-13 Boys dropped their second game of the season 4-1 to Evergreen, with Jas Bains scoring Surrey's lone marker, while the U-14 Girls saw their record go to 1-1 after a tough 2-1 loss to their Pacific Northwest opponents. Natalie Douglas scored Surrey's consolation strike.

Last weekend, Surrey WFC opened their inaugural Super Y-League season by winning three of a four-game weekend series in Washington State against Spokane Spiders.

The Whitecaps other Super Y affiliates Coastal WFC kick off on Wednesday, May 21, when they host Surrey WFC in their home opener at Mackie Park. Mountain WFC open their season on the road by traveling to Coastal WFC on Sunday, May 25.
