'Caps pair make Team of the Week

Two Vancouver Whitecaps players have been named in the latest USL First Division Team of the Week.

Left fullback Takashi Hirano and striker Eduardo Sebrango earned the honours for Week Four of the 2008 USL-1 season. Former Japanese international Hirano was instrumental both defensively and in setting up Sebrango's winning goal during last Saturday's 1-0 win over Rochester Rhinos at Swangard Stadium.

For Sebrango, the accolade is his second of the new season, with the Cuban hit-man making the Team of the Week for Week One after scoring the winning goal in the season-opener against Canadian rivals Montreal Impact. Also making the Week Four squad was Rhinos goalkeeper Scott Vallow, who made 13 saves in a 0-0 draw at Portland Timbers last Thursday and the 1-0 defeat in Vancouver.

Joining Sebrango in the attacking department was USL-1 Player of the Week Randi Patterson from Charleston Battery, who struck two goals in a 3-1 home win over Miami FC Blues last Friday. Fellow forward Dan Antoniuk from Carolina RailHawks also made the squad.

Midfielders Ansu Toure (Atlanta Silverbacks), Mike Richardson (Charleston Battery), and Melvin Tarley (Minnesota Thunder) were also chosen, while defenders David Hayes (Atlanta Silverbacks), Cameron Knowles (Portland Timbers), and Zach Scott (Seattle Sounders) joined Hirano in the team's back-line.
