The Vancouver Whitecaps shouldn't be lacking any confidence for this afternoon's match against the Miami FC Blues at Tropical Park Stadium.
The Whitecaps enter the contest on a two-game winning streak after wins over the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer and United Soccer Leagues First Division rival Rochester Rhinos.
Most recently, Vancouver created a number of chances in Tuesday's 2-1 friendly victory over the David Beckham-led Galaxy at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium. The two goals scored equalled the team's total production from their first three league games.
"We are developing our game and you could see that on Tuesday in Edmonton," Whitecaps head coach Teitur Thordarson, whose team is 2-1 in league play, said on the team's website.
"To play the way we did against the Galaxy and create many goal-scoring chances, it gives us a lot of self-confidence, so we're pleased with that."
There's no better time -- or team -- to build on that momentum against. Miami (1-2-1) currently leads USL-1 in the goals-against department, giving up 11 in four games. Vancouver has yet to lose at Tropical Park Stadium in three trips. The Blues have yet to win at home this season.
"It doesn't matter who the opponent is, we just want to concentrate on the way we play, so I've not been looking too much at our opponents," said Thordarson.
The Whitecaps follow their trip to Miami with a second league meeting against the Montreal Impact in Quebec. The Victoria Day clash Monday will be the first game to be played at Montreal's new Saputo Stadium.
