Vancouver Whitecaps defenders Lyle Martin and Emily Zurrer were named to the latest USL Teams of the Week.
Martin was chosen to the USL-1 Team of the Week for his performance in the first away win of the season at Miami FC Blues. Eduardo Sebrango's first-half strike last Friday was enough to give Teitur Thordarson's side victory at Tropical Park Stadium in south Florida. The Week Five All-Star XI also included former Whitecaps striker Jason McLaughlin.
Zurrer made the W-League Team of the Week after scoring a late equalizer in the Whitecaps women's team season opener against the expansion Ventura County Fusion. Vancouver earned a 2-2 draw at Swangard against their southern California opponents.
Former Whitecaps defender Jill Oakes, and Ventura County goalkeeper Joslyn Slovek, were also included in the W-League's Week Five team following their performances over the past weekend.
