Pozniak named in weekly USL-1 squad

Vancouver Whitecaps defender Chris Pozniak has been named in the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 10.

The Canadian international claimed the weekly accolade after striking a spectacular equalizer in the 1-1 home draw with Miami FC Blues. Forward Juan Pablo Galavis also made the squad after finding the scoresheet in Sunday's entertaining contest at Swangard Stadium.

Three members of Vancouver's opponents on Wednesday night were also named in the weekly all-star XI, as striker Roberto Brown, defender Cedric Joqueviel, and goalkeeper Matt Jordan were honoured after Sunday's convincing 3-0 win over the struggling Carolina RailHawks.

Charleston Battery's Nelson Akwari and Atlanta Silverbacks' David Hayes were the other defenders in the Week 10 team, while midfielders Ricardo Sanchez (Minnesota Thunder), Kupono Low (Carolina), and Tiger Fitzpatrick (Rochester Rhinos) were also selected by the United Soccer Leagues.

The Week 10 Player of the Week honour went to Atlanta forward Macoumba Kandji, as the Senegalese striker had two goals and an assist in Saturday's 3-1 home win over Puerto Rico Islanders.

Meanwhile, Whitecaps Residency striker Randy Edwini-Bonsu earned a place in the USL Premier Development League (PDL) Team of the Week. The youngster made the Week 10 squad after his performances over the past weekend against Ogden Outlaws and Abbotsford Mariners.
