Whitecaps to play Prince George exhibition - Vancouver Sun

The Vancouver Whitecaps will be checking out the Spruce City later this month, with Wednesday's announcement that the United Soccer League's First Division team is to play an exhibition match against the Prince George All-Stars on Saturday, July 19, at 2 p.m.

The match, to take place at Prince George's Glen Thompson Field, is being held in partnership with the Prince George Youth Soccer Association, the British Columbia Soccer Association and Wendy's Restaurants.

"We're looking forward to bringing the Whitecaps to Prince George," Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi said in a statement. "Working with our partner, the British Columbia Soccer Association, we hope to bring the Whitecaps and professional soccer throughout B.C."

The Whitecaps currently sit in second place in the 11-team USL First Division with a record of seven wins, four losses and two draws.

Tickets will be available for sale at the gates, starting at 11:30 a.m. on match day. Tickets will range from $5 to $10, while children five and under will get in for free.

Prior to the match, there will be a free Wendy's Whitecaps Soccer Clinic at 12:15 p.m. for boys and girls ages seven to nine at Glen Thompson Field. The free clinic will include coaching from Whitecaps players and coaches, as well as an autograph session. Registration is free, but is only available by registration on-line at www.pgysa.bc.ca. Space is limited. Players that are registered and accepted will also receive free entry to the exhibition match.
