The Vancouver Whitecaps ended the W-League regular season yesterday afternoon with a 2-1 win over the Real Colorado Cougars at Swangard Stadium.
SHELL SHOCKED
Tiffeny Milbrett scored her club-best fifth goal in the 13th minute. Cougars' goalkeeper Brianna Schulze mishandled Kaylynn Kyle's cross into the penalty area in the 16th minute, allowing Julie Armstrong to capitalize. Backup Katie Bell replaced shell-shocked Schulze in the 20th minute.
NEXT UP
The second-place Whitecaps host the third-place Seattle Sounders in Saturday's 4 p.m. Western conference final. The winner goes to the W-League final four.
GO CANADA
Canada's Vancouver-based women's national team got a halftime sendoff. The team leaves today to train in Singapore and opens the Olympics on Aug. 6 in Tianjin against Argentina.
