Vancouver wins PDL West final - The Fresno Bee

One day after advancing dramatically, the Vancouver Whitecaps rolled without suspense, defeating the Tacoma Tide 4-1 on Sunday to capture the Western Conference title of the Premier Development League playoffs at Chukchansi Park.

It was here on Saturday that the Whitecaps moved into the final only after Randy Edwini-Bonsu scored with 10 seconds left in regulation, forcing an overtime that Vancouver dominated for a 3-1 victory.

The momentum carried over for Edwini-Bonsu and the Whitecaps into Sunday's match.

Edwini-Bonsu scored twice and Alex Semenets and Drew Russell added goals to give Vancouver a 4-0 lead through the 86th minute.

The Tide had reached the Western Conference championship game with a 2-0 victory against the Fresno Fuego on Saturday night.

Vancouver's win sets up an all-Canadian showdown with Thunder Bay in next weekend's PDL semifinals.
