Toronto — Toronto FC, depleted by international call-ups for Saturday's match against Chivas USA at BMO Field, are looking to add a couple of defenders for the game in Tim Regan and Diaz Kambere, head coach John Carver said Thursday after training.
Kambere is with the Vancouver Whitecaps of the United Soccer Leagues and Regan has played in Major League Soccer and joined Toronto as a scout earlier this year.
He was a reserve who entered the match in the 66th minute on July 1 when the Whitecaps defeated Toronto FC 1-0 at BMO Field in the Canadian Championship tournament. He also came on in the 72nd minute on July 9 when the team drew 2-2 in the return match at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, B.C. He has played in nine games with the Whitecaps this season.
Kambere, 22, also was with Canada's Under-23 team earlier this year at the Olympic qualifying tournament.
Regan, 27, has played in New York with the MetroStars and Red Bulls and for Chivas USA. He was taken in the 2006 expansion draft by Toronto and was sent to the Red Bulls for forward Edson Buddle.
