Draw with Minnesota -- call it a slip-up - The Province

Caps 0 Thunder 0 Marc Weber The Vancouver Whitecaps are going to miss the three points. They're going to miss Omar Jarun, too. Tied with the Puerto Rico Islanders for first place in the USL First Division but with their foe holding the tiebreaker, the Whitecaps couldn't afford any slip-ups in their final three games if they hoped to earn the opening-round playoff bye. Sunday was a slip-up -- a 0-0 draw against the struggling Minnesota Thunder in front of 5,288 fans at Swangard Stadium. It was also a game that cost them defender Jarun for the final two regular season tilts. Jarun was sent off in the 83rd minute for his second yellow-card offence of the night. That comes with a one-game ban and he'll miss the finale, too, because he's accumulated eight yellows on the season. "Obviously it's a disappointing result," said midfielder Justin Moose. "We know what we need to do with the next two games [to get first place]. We have to get a couple of good wins and get some luck." The Caps (13-7-8) dominated for 80 minutes against the Thunder (8-11-9), but Jason Jordan's header off the crossbar in the 78th minute was as close as they came. © The Vancouver Province 2008
