Vancouver Whitecaps FC have announced that tickets for the Whitecaps United Soccer Leagues First Division (USL-1) quarterfinal playoff match against Minnesota Thunder are now available at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at
ticketmaster.ca
, and by phone at 604.280.4400. Group tickets are available at the Whitecaps office at 604.669.WAVE (9283).
In the first playoff round, the Whitecaps (USL-1 second position - 15W-7L-8D) will battle the Thunder (seventh position – 10-11-9), in a home-and-away aggregate goals series. The first leg will be played this Friday, September 26, at Swangard Stadium at 7 p.m., while the return match will be played at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, at the National Sports Center Stadium in Blaine, Minnesota.
Friday’s match will be broadcast live on TEAM 1040 Sports Radio, and both matches will be available live online at USLlive.com.
The top seven teams in the USL-1 standings advanced to the playoffs. The regular season champions, Puerto Rico Islanders, received a bye to the semifinals. In the other two quarterfinal series, Montreal Impact (3rd) will face Seattle Sounders (6th), while Rochester Rhinos (4th) will take on Charleston Battery (5th).
After the quarterfinal round, teams will be ranked according to their position in the regular season standings. Semifinals matches are schedule to take place on Friday, October 3, and Sunday, October 5. The USL-1 championship match will be held on Saturday, October 11.
