Mountain, Coastal, and Abbotsford all claimed top spots in the 2008 Super Y-League club rankings, including a number two spot for Mountain WFC.
The Super Y-League launched the First and Second 11 Ranking System in 2005 to recognize the league’s best, based primarily upon the on-field results and minimum standards and operations. Top clubs are ranked from 1-22 in three categories: overall, boys, and girls.
In the overall top club category, Mountain WFC led the way with an impressive number two club ranking out of over 600 teams within the U-13 to U-17 boys and girls age groups competing across North America. This tops Mountains number three finish in the 2007 season. Edging out Mountain for the overall number one ranking was Chicago Magic, who achieved the top score in both the overall and the boys’ regular season rankings. The Magic were also regular season overall leaders in both 2005 and 2006.
Coastal picked up the #14 club ranking followed by the Abbotsford Mariners at #16. Surrey WFC were not eligible for the 2008 rankings based on their limit to only field U-13 and U-14 boys and girls ages in their inaugural year.
On the boys side after #1-ranked Chicago came Mountain WFC at #2, topping a #6 ranking in 2007. The Abbotsford Mariners were ranked #8, up from #11 in 2007.
On the girls side, Coastal WFC ranked a lofty #5 after ranking at #14 in 2007, while Mountain WFC matched their 2007 ranking at #7. The top-ranked girls club was Washington Freedom.

The release of the list precedes the 10th Annual USL Super Y-League North American Finals, where all but five of the 37 clubs in the rankings will be competing for 10 championships that are up-for-grabs beginning Friday, November 21.
13 BC-based Pacific Northwest Division teams are headed to Florida to compete in the Super Y-League North American Finals in November.
Vancouver Whitecaps and BCSA affiliates Mountain, Coastal, and Surrey WFC will send a combined ten teams to Florida this autumn - five from Mountain, including the U-13, U-14, U-15 and U-16 Boys and the U-16 Girls. Four from Coastal, including the U-13, U-14, U-15 and U-16 Girls, and one from Surrey WFC in the form of their U-14 Boys team. In addition, Abbotsford Mariners have qualified three more teams, including the U-14, U-15 and U-16 Boys to bring the grand total of BC teams to thirteen.
