Whitecaps release Addlery and Jarun

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announce that they will not exercise the 2009 contract options on forward Nicholas Addlery and defender Omar Jarun. Addlery, 26-years-old, played in 27 matches, scored four goals, and added one assist in 1,390 minutes of action during the 2008 regular season with Vancouver. During the Whitecaps playoff run, the native of Kingston, Jamaica, played in four matches for 100 minutes. Addlery also played in three matches for 237 minutes in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship. Prior to joining Vancouver last January as a free agent, Addlery played one season with Major League Soccer club D.C. United. Jarun, a 24-year-old resident of Peachtree City, Georgia, was signed last February as a free agent. Prior to coming to Vancouver, Jarun spent two seasons with the Atlanta Silverbacks. As a member of the Whitecaps, the third-year USL First Division veteran played 24 matches for 1,902 minutes during the regular season, made two appearances in the playoffs for 43 minutes and played three matches in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship for 270 minutes. Offensively, the centre back scored one goal and added one assist. Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2009 season tickets are now on sale.
