'Caps offer congrats

Vancouver Whitecaps FC wish to congratulate the winners and all candidates in the November 15, 2008, local election contests throughout the province.

The club looks forward to working with all the re-elected incumbents and newly elected mayors, councillors and park board representatives in communities across British Columbia.

"Local governments and regional districts throughout the province are important to our organization at all levels," notes Vancouver Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi. "Whether it’s with respect to our grassroots programs or our men’s and women’s teams, local governments touch on all aspects of who we are and what we do in communities in this province."

In particular, Vancouver Whitecaps FC is looking forward to meeting and working with re-elected mayor Derek Corrigan and Council in Burnaby for the upcoming seasons at Swangard Stadium; newly elected mayor Gregor Robertson and Council in Vancouver with respect to the proposed Whitecaps Waterfront Stadium and BC Place; re-elected Mayor Lois Jackson and Council in Delta with respect to the proposed National Soccer Development Centre; and municipalities across the province with respect to infrastructure and community field development.
