- The Vancouver Whitecaps won their second United Soccer Leagues' First Division title in three years under new head coach Teitur Thordarson.
- It'll be a different squad in 2009. Top scorer Eduardo Sebrango returned to the Montreal Impact and veterans Jeff Clarke, Steve Kindel, Alfredo Valente and Jason Jordan are going elsewhere.
- Owner Greg Kerfoot, along with NBA star Steve Nash, awaits Major League Soccer's decision on 2011 expansion and a new home, either at Waterfront Stadium or a renovated B.C. Place.
