Lam-Feist, Teibert earn top U-17 player awards - The Vancouver Sun

Monica Lam-Feist and Russell Teibert were named Monday by the Canadian Soccer Association as Canada's under-17 players of the year.

Lam-Feist, a 17-year-old forward from Surrey, B.C., is a two-time winner of the U-17 player of the year award.

She spent part of the season with Canada's under-17 team and part of the season with the women's under-20 team.

Lam-Feist scored in each of Canada's two opening matches in June at the CONCACAF women's under-20 championship in Puebla, Mexico and scored a pair of goals in November for Canada at the FIFA under-20 women's World Cup in Chile.

Teibert, a 16-year-old from Niagara Falls, Ont., began the season as a member of the Canadian Soccer Association's National Training Centre in Ontario. In August, he moved to the Vancouver Whitecaps residency program, and was a member of the residency squad's trip to Japan in December.

At Canada's U-17 camp in Mexico in November, Teibert scored one goal and one assist a series of matches against local club teams.

Voting for the annual award is split between national-team coaches and Canadian coaches who have taken the Canadian Soccer Association's national course at the B and A levels.
