Four player yet to leave for Canada - The Citizen

By Majuto Omary Four national soccer team players who were to join the North American champions, Vancouver Whitecaps, today are yet to secure visa. The players who would undergo trials with the Canadian giants include; Nadir Haroub, Nizar Khalfan, Zahoro Pazi and Abdul Deen. These players were spotted when Whitecaps toured the country for three international friendly matches. Whitecaps locked horns with Young Africans, Simba Sports Club and the national team, Taifa Stars. Several young players impressed Whitecaps, but the four were outstanding during their friendly matches. LZ Enterprises Marketing official said yesterday the players had failed to obtain visa on time, this follows that they would travel after the completion of formal procedures. "They will join the team a bit late. We are trying to sort it out before it's too late. I have decided to go with them to Nairobi for interviews, I hope they will make it," he said. However, the official said they had already informed Whitecaps about the delay and agreed to extend their deadline. "I really don't know when they will travel, but I hope they can obtain visa in a week or so. It is not a big problem because we have informed Whitecaps about it," he said. According to the official, the players have been allowed by their respective clubs to go and try professional football abroad. "They have no problem with their players they responded quite well and I believe the lads will excel in their three-month trials," he said. He added: "What delayed the club's approval was that they wanted official letters from Whitecaps." Should the players excel in their impending trials, it would open doors for other Tanzanian players to show their prowess on the international stage.
