Testo scores the winner as Montreal edges Vancouver 2-1 - The Canadian Press

BURNABY, B.C. — Midfielder David Testo scored in the 44th minutes to give the Montreal Impact a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps in United Soccer League action Sunday night.

Testo broke a 1-1 tie on a left-footed shot from 30 yards out that beat Whitecaps goalkeeper Jay Nolly.

"With Testo's goal, we showed our character," said Impact coach Marc Dos Santos. "The team made a huge effort during the full 90 minutes. The players gave everything and we deserved the victory tonight.

"We definitely deserve our six points on the road."

The Impact (3-4-2) got six out of a possible nine points on their three-game road trip and moved to sixth place - tied with Vancouver (3-4-2) - in the USL First Division standings.

Impact forward Eduardo Sebrango scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute. Following a long pass in behind the Whitecaps defence, midfielder Rocco Placentino took a low shot that Nolly blocked, but Sebrango buried the rebound for his second goal of the season.

Whitecaps forward Marcus Haber tied the score at the 42nd minute, taking advantage of a cross from the left flank from Ansou Toure, which deflected in front of the goal. Haber beat Impact goalkeeper Matt Jordan with a point blank shot.

The teams meet again at Saputo Stadium in Montreal on June 20.
