James scores twice, Whitecaps roll to 4-2 win over Islanders - Canadian Press

BURNABY, B.C. — Marlon James scored twice as the Vancouver Whitecaps went on to a 4-2 win over the Puerto Rico Islanders in United Soccer Leagues First Division action Saturday.

Marcus Haber opened the scoring for Vancouver in the fourth minute. A poor header from the Islanders' John Krause went over goalkeeper Michael Behonick, then Haber beat Behonick in a race for the ball and scored to gave the Whitecaps a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

The Whitecaps went up 2-0 in the 51st minute when Kyle Veris scored an own goal trying to clear a Vancouver corner kick. James gave Vancouver (6-7-3) a 3-0 lead with a strike form 18 yards out that beat Behonick.

With the score 3-1, James put the game away with a header in the 82nd minute. Josh Hansen had both goals for the Islanders (9-5-8), who play Toronto FC at BMO Field on Wednesday in the CONCACAF Champions League.
