Former Vancouver Whitecaps FC captain Martin Nash has made the move from the playing field to the broadcast booth as Rogers Sportsnet’s new analyst for Vancouver Whitecaps FC matches.

“Martin’s passion for the game makes him a natural fit for Sportsnet’s coverage of Vancouver Whitecaps FC,” said Rob Corte, Vice-President, Production, Rogers Sportsnet. “His career was marked by many triumphs on the field and viewers can expect that same success in the broadcast booth.”

Nash joins Sportsnet's Craig MacEwen, who will handle the play-by-play on 21 Sportsnet-produced Whitecaps FC matches, which is more than any other Canadian broadcaster. The Sportsnet schedule kicks off with the club’s first Major League Soccer road match on Saturday, March 26, at 1 p.m. (PT) on Sportsnet ONE against Philadelphia Union at PPL Park.

"I'm excited to be part of Sportsnet's broadcast team for the inaugural season of Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the MLS," said Nash. "With a new squad in place, it will be fun to follow this season, as it unfolds."

Nash brings 15 years of professional playing experience in both the A-League and United Soccer Leagues First Division, where he won four league championships, including two with Whitecaps FC in 2006 and 2008. Nash finished his career with Vancouver last year and scored a career 18 goals with the club from 2004 to 2010. The product of Victoria, BC, also enjoyed representing Canada's national team for 13 years, highlighted by appearances such as the successful 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign.
