The Province: Longtime rivalry heats up as Impact crush Whitecaps -

Eduardo Sebrango's first-half finish was the only thing cool and calm in yet another explosive, venomous clash between Vancouver and Montreal on Friday at Swangard Stadium.

Sebrango, an ageless wonder at 37, headed Adam Braz's cross past Jay Nolly in the 29th minute to lift the visiting Impact to a 1-0 win in front of a sold-out crowd of 5,288.

The game featured seven yellow cards — all in a spite-filled second half — and a straight red to Caps' substitute Gershon Koffie in the 85th minute.

On four occasions the game teetered on total chaos, and referee Justin Tasev deserved some credit for keeping some order.

The Vancouver Sun: Tempers flare as Impact trip Whitecaps -

Montreal won the  game, but was itching for a fight afterward   No one expected a love-fest but the battle that erupted  between the Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal Impact in the second  half Friday and anger displayed after the game was crazy even by  those two teams' standards.

The Impact defeated the Whitecaps 1-0 in an emotional, caution-filled match played in front of a sellout crowd of 5,288  fans at Swangard Stadium.

After a relatively tame first half with no cautions or serious  incidents, the game got out of control in the second half when  Vancouver midfielder Blake Wagner tackled Impact defender Adam Braz.

Wagner got a yellow card for the incident but Braz was furious and  even waited in the stadium tunnel after the match, clearly hoping to  confront Wagner.

The Canadian Press: Sebrango scores for Impact as they shutout Whitecaps
BURNABY — Eduardo Sebrango scored in the 29th minute as the Montreal Impact defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 in USSF Division-2 action Friday night at Swangard Stadium.

The Whitecaps dropped a decision to Montreal for the first time this season in the sixth and final meeting between the two clubs. Next season Vancouver will join the MLS, with Montreal set to follow the year after.

The only goal came when Adam Braz took a long shot that was deflected by the head of Sebrango about 12 yards out. Whitecaps goalkeeper Jay Nolly got his hand on it but it still ricocheted off the left post and in, giving the away team the edge.

"The boys got wide and I made a late run," said Sebrango of his fifth of the season. "It was a good cross from Braz."
