Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that this Sunday's Major League Soccer Reserve League home matches against Chivas USA reserves will be played at Empire Field in Vancouver, BC. The reserve match will kick off at 11 a.m. PT and will be closed to the public.

Match updates will be available on twitter @WhitecapsFC and a complete match report will be posted on whitecapsfc.com.

Re-launched by MLS for 2011, the Reserve League first ran between 2005 and 2008. It provides head coach Teitur Thordarson and his staff with opportunities to play members of the Whitecaps FC first team that see limited action in MLS regular season matches. Vancouver's Reserve League campaign began in Northern California last month, with the 'Caps falling 2-1 to San Jose Earthquakes reserves on March 22.

With the MLS Reserve League divided into three divisions, Whitecaps FC reserves are playing in the six-club West Division alongside Chivas USA, Los Angeles Galaxy, Portland Timbers, San Jose Earthquakes, and Seattle Sounders FC. The Blue and White's second string will play each club home and away for a total of 10 matches. The 2011 Reserve League regular season schedule will conclude on Sunday, October 16.

The top eight teams in the Reserve League regular season will advance to the playoffs to determine a champion. MLS clubs may also schedule additional games for their reserve teams against non-MLS opponents.
