With the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency program undergoing a significant expansion, Megan Stewart writes about a local Vancouver lad who has experienced the benefits of the Residency program (Megan Stewart – Vancouver Courier).

On the MLS team, midfielder Gershon Koffie continues to improve. The 20-year-old scored his first goal of the season against Chicago last month, and head coach Tom Soehn envisions more of the same from the talented youngster, “I don't think we see enough of the offensive qualities that I saw when I scouted him. He can supply some offense and I'm constantly pushing him to bring that aspect of his game out” (Bruce Constantineau – Vancouver Sun).

With today marking exactly one month until Vancouver Whitecaps FC move into Bell Pitch downtown, Brandon Timko highlights some improvements of our new home. “The biggest change to the venue – originally built in 1983 – will of course be the new retractable roof, which will turn the stadium into a year-round open-air facility. With support masts each measuring 47 metres tall, the cable-supported roof will be the biggest of its kind in the world and will produce a 100 metre by 85 metre blue sky opening” (Brandon Timko – whitecapsfc.com).

“The Canadian Soccer Association today released ticket sales information for the 2012 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament that will be held at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, BC, from January 19 to 29, 2012. Tournament packages will go on sale September 9, 2011, with affordable prices featuring an average ticket price of just under $6.50 per match across 15 matches in eight days of world class soccer” (whitecapsfc.com).
