VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

Following a bye week, the ‘Caps now look to take full advantage of a struggling New York Red Bulls side that hasn’t played a match in almost three weeks. Find out how badly NYRB need a victory as they find themselves in a seven game winless streak (Marc Weber – The Province).  

Weber was also busy predicting the ‘Caps and Red Bulls starting XI for Saturday afternoon while giving Whitecaps FC fans his weekly edition of, ‘Three Things to Watch For’ as the ‘Caps look to win back-to-back matches (Marc Weber – The Province). 

Are Whitecaps FC heading into mission impossible this weekend? In his blog, Russell Berrisford writes, “The Vancouver Whitecaps mission (should they choose to accept it) is to finally get a win on the road, and the next opportunity to do just that comes when they play the New York Red Bulls on Saturday” (Russell Berrisford – Vancouver Sun).

Can Vancouver Whitecaps FC turn a week of rest and recovery into a positive result against New York Red Bulls? “[The break] might actually help,” winger Shea Salinas told MLSsoccer.com after training on Thursday. “We got a little rest, and everyone was playing with a lot more confidence in training sessions, so we’re glad to go into New York” (Martin MacMahon – whitecapsfc.com).
