VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

With the Major League Soccer (MLS) season winding down, it is a perfect time for the younger Whitecaps FC players to shine.  “It’s time to see...how they’ve developed”, said head coach Tom Soehn regarding his younger players getting a chance out on the pitch.  (Marc Weber – The Province) 


On Thursday, Whitecaps FC host Real Salt Lake on Bell Pitch downtown at BC Place. The ‘Caps will be in tough against one of the top teams in the league, but Salt Lake will be missing several key players. (Martin Renzhofer – The Salt Lake Tribune)

CANADIAN SOCCER REPORT:

Canadian soccer superstar Christine Sinclair has been named as Canada’s flag-bearer for the Pan Am Games later this month.  “I’m honoured and deeply moved to have been chosen”, said Sinclair in response to the news.  (Jesse Campigotto – CBC Sports)


The Canadian Soccer Association National Championships, the largest national championship to be held across the country in one single week, kicks off this Wednesday, October 5 with competition running through Monday, October 10 (Canadian Soccer Association).


The 2012 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament will be held at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, BC, from January 19 to 29, 2012. Tournament packages will go on sale September 9, 2011, with affordable prices featuring an average ticket price of just under $6.50 per match across 15 matches in eight days of world class soccer (whitecapsfc.com).
