Whitecaps FC season ticket holders going to 2011 MLS Cup

After becoming Vancouver Whitecaps FC season ticket holders during their inaugural season of Major League Soccer (MLS) action, Jennifer Gibson and Annette Wiebe are now being paid back in dividends. Gibson and Wiebe will be heading to Los Angeles, California, in a couple weeks time after renewing their season tickets with Whitecaps FC for the 2012 MLS campaign and winning a ‘Caps contest to send them to the 2011 MLS Cup Final at the Home Depot Center on November 20.

For Gibson, while becoming a first-time season ticket holder this season has been an enjoyable experience from start to finish, this isn’t the first time that she has enjoyed an experience with the ‘Caps. Gibson was a fan of the Vancouver 86ers back in the 80s and also attended Whitecaps FC matches at Swangard with her brother as a routine occasion over the years.

Now, with her husband and family, Jennifer is soaking in the MLS experience and having a great time doing so. “It has been a lot of fun, even making the move from Empire Field to BC Place. We have really enjoyed our experience and still can’t believe we will be going to California,” said Gibson. “It’s just incredible”.

Her 11-year-old son Kyle and 9-year-old daughter Rachel have also enjoyed accompanying their parents to Whitecaps FC matches this past season. Their favourite players are defender Alain Rochat and striker Eric Hassli. Both siblings play soccer themselves and their level of enthusiasm for the sport has continued to grow after seeing their hometown ‘Caps.

As for Wiebe, her family has also had a blast attending every single Whitecaps FC match this season alongside her sister Rita, nephew Nathan, and brother Art. “We bought season tickets for multiple reasons,” said Wiebe. “Part of the plan was to spend quality time as a family together doing something we all enjoy. We enjoy soccer as a game and since our nephew plays the sport, we thought it would be a perfect experience”.

Annette and her family have also enjoyed the experience this season. Since the move to BC Place, Wiebe has enjoyed the beauty that the stadium possesses and has had fun sitting beside the Vancouver Southsiders, noting the enthusiastic culture they bring to each match.

While neither Jennifer nor Annette have finished planning for their California adventure, both women are extremely ecstatic about their trip and can hardly wait until Vancouver Whitecaps FC return to the pitch next March for their 2012 MLS campaign.
