Whitecaps FC acquire third-round selection in 2014 MLS SuperDraft

Vancouver Whitecaps FC today acquired Seattle Sounders FC’s natural third-round selection in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, and in exchange, switched places with Seattle in the 2011 Re-Entry Process Stage 2 Draft order.  

Whitecaps FC were originally scheduled to select first overall in each round of the Stage 2 Draft, however, after the trade, Vancouver held the 14th selection in each round and Seattle had the opportunity to select first.

With the 14th overall selection, Whitecaps FC passed – exiting from the Re-Entry Process.

In 1974, Vancouver Whitecaps FC played their inaugural season in the North American Soccer League, and in 1979, the club won the NASL Soccer Bowl championship.
