WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

They may be in the middle of the desert, but it's been smooth sailing in Vancouver Whitecaps FC's preseason camp. With Le Toux settling in well, Camilo's contract negotiations complete, and the team continuing to get fit, the course of preseason seems to be on an even keel. The excitement is starting to brew on Vancouver Island in anticipation of our Feb 19th preseason friendly against the University of Victoria Vikes. The tradition was on a temporary hiatus for Whitecaps FC's inauguaral MLS season, but Vikes head coach Bruce Wilson now says that Victoria can now count on an annual visit from Whitecaps FC. CANADIAN SOCCER SCENE:

The stage is now set for Canada's Men's National Team to take the spotlight as the Canadian Soccer Association announced the schedule for their FIFA World Cup Qualifiers yesterday. It will be a crucial season for the men in red and white, who will be hoping for the type of support the Women's side received at BC Place during the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament. This season is no ordinary one for the Canadian Soccer Association , who celebrate their centennial anniversary this year. To commemorate 100 years the Association and Umbro Canada unveiled the new official team kits of Canada's men's and women's national teams. It seems another important game will be taking place in the east, this time for Whitecaps women’s side as it was announced today that Ottawa will play host to the W-League championship this year.
