'Caps Chronicle: Thorrington's unfinished business

'Caps Chronicle - Feb. 21, 2012

WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

John Thorrington has been a staple in the MLS soccer scene for years since he entered in the league with Chicago Fire in 2005. In 59 appearances with the Fire he notched eight goals and was a defensive stalwart. That’s why Whitecaps FC plucked the scrappy midfielder from the Fire in the 2010 Expansion draft. Unfortunately for Thorrington and ‘Caps fans, the gritty midfielder sat out injured most of the season. However, Thorrington hopes that 2012 will have a different outcome not just for the team, but for himself as well. (Bruce Constantineau - The Vancouver Sun)

Newly signed Designated Player (DP) Barry Robson is returning to the Middlesbrough line-up for their match tonight against Millwall. Manager Tony Mowbray knows Robson will give nothing less than 100 % tonight in to his return to the line-up after his finger injury. This match will also act as a great tune-up for Robson who prepares to join the Scottish national side for their friendly vs. Slovenia on Wednesday, February 29. (Middlesbrough Football Club)

Whitecaps FC travelled to sunny Orlando Florida yesterday for additional preseason training at the Disney Pro Soccer Classic tournament. Striker Omar Salgado however, will instead be travelling to Clermont, Florida, after being named as one of the 26 players invited to the United States Under-20 training camp which runs until March 1. He will join the team in Orlando afterwards. (Fidencio Enriquez - MLSsoccer.com)
