Soccer is a global sport, but the ‘Caps are an especially multicultural team with players coming from 17 different countries. A player can have many different needs when he comes to a new team. Canada is a multicultural country with plenty of opportunities for growth, as was shown in the previous article. Whitecaps FC midfielderJohn Thorringtonmade his season debut this past weekend in Philadelphia against the Union. Head coachMartin Renniebelieves that with Thorrington back in the lineup he has even more options for the midfield. Another game and another clean sheet for the Blue and White gives them the second longest shutout streak to start a season in MLS history. The ‘Caps current shutout streak currently sits at 360 minutes, and they will try to break the MLS record in San Jose this Saturday, which is currently held by the 2007 New York Red Bulls at 421 minutes.
