Early in this 2012 season, the Blue and White have been applauded for their stellar defensive work as they set a new MLS record for most consecutive minutes without conceding a goal to start a season. The back four played has played a huge role in establishing the ‘Caps new defensive identity, especially the partnership between Jay DeMerit and Martin Bonjour. Bonjour is fitting in nicely to his new surroundings in Vancouver and letting his footwork do the talking for him while he learns English to better communicate on the field. Assistant Coach Paul Ritchie had a busy bye week as he travelled overseas to continue his courses in obtaining his UEFA Pro License. Ritchie took part in tactics and scenario discussions with top managers such as Everton manager David Moyes. In obtaining UEFA licenses and working with such experienced managers the ‘Caps assistant coach looks like he will be a great manager in the future whether it’s in the MLS or overseas.
