'Caps Chronicle - Y.P. Lee

‘Caps Chronicle: The wait is over!

After a week to regroup following last week’s bye, match day has finally arrived again! Should tonight’s game be anything like last season’s home match against Sporting Kansas City, then definitely expect some fireworks. With Sporting Kansas City leading the league at six wins in six games, one reporter notes that tonight’s match should serve as a good measuring stick to see just how far Whitecaps FC have progressed under head coach Martin Rennie’s tutelage. Expect some changes to the Major League Soccer Power Rankings if they get a result. (Irfaan Gaffar – Sportsnet)

It appears we all could learn a thing or two from South Korean soccer legend Young-Pyo Lee. The philosophical fullback has been something of a sage to his Whitecaps teammates, and recently shared some of his life lessons with The Province's Marc Weber. “I try to think what's important and what's not important in life,” explained Lee. “If you are ever in doubt, not sure you are on the right path, then you are on the right path. This is the first requirement of success.” (Marc Weber - The Province)

It seems only fitting that rain has fallen on the city of Vancouver on the day the 'Caps look to end their scoring drought. After a week to assemble the artillery and a battle plan for tonight, for the first time this season coach Rennie will have Eric Hassli, Atiba Harris and Sebastien Le Toux available in the arsenal for the same match. Not surprising that Rennie is as enthusiastic as he is, “I’m pretty sure we're going to be fired up for this one.” (Marc Weber - The Province)

Each of tonight's opposing teams has proven their defensive prowess this season. The 'Caps started things off with a 377-minute shutout streak white Sporting Kansas City have only allowed one goal in six matches. While firepower is necessary to win games, it's the final result that ultimately earns points as one reporter explains, “Success can be measured in many different ways, and although goals are part of the excitement, they don't necessarily equal success.” (Jason McWilliams – The Province)

Speaking of arsenals, Whitecaps FC Residency player Sam Adekugbe grew up an Arsenal fan with his dad being from London. The talented ‘Caps youngster did a Q&A with The Province newspaper – find out what he has to say about his experience with the 'Caps Reserves, sibling rivalries, and his soccer idols. (Marc Weber – The Province)

When it comes to Whitecaps FC matches, nothings beats being a part of a thundering crowd at BC Place. Starting at the affordable price of $119, match packs include five Major League Soccer regular season matches and offer significant savings over individual match prices.
