WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

NCAA basketball fans know all about March Madness, but Whitecaps FC supporters know all about May Madness. The Blue and White just finished their busiest month of the season as they played eight matchs in four weeks. The ‘Caps acquitted themselves very well on the field, holding down a would-be playoff position in the Western Conference while earning two hard fought points in two Cascadia Cup matches. Whitecaps FC played so many games in the month of May that the Vancouver Sun decided to hand out their first ever “Maybe” Awards. What a difference a year can make. The ‘Caps have a new head coach, hold a new MLS record for consecutive shutout minutes to start a season and the team currently sits in a playoff spot. As one of the veteran leaders on Whitecaps FC, John Thorrington is relied upon heavily off the field by Martin Rennie and his coaching staff . Thorrington has been able to make significant contributions on the field this year and this past week in the City of Roses he not only earned the Budweiser Man of the Match award, but he was also later named to the MLS Team of the Week. WHITECAPS FC IN THE HOUSE:

The Cascadia rivalry is one of the best in Major League Soccer and supporters groups have been key to the rivalry since its inception. The Timbers Army helps make JELD-WEN Field true a fortress deep in the City of Roses. Whitecaps FC supporters were not to be outdone in the City of Roses. Around 750 travelling fans made the six hour drive down the I-5 to watch the Blue and White capture a valuable road point and another key draw in the Cascadia Cup. ‘Caps players and coaches wanted to take the time to say thanks to their outstanding #CapsOnTour crew.
